The sea has always played an important role within the inhabitants of this paradisiacal coast. Most of the 200km of coast are splashed by cliffs, beaches and hidden small bays. Its superb climate being an important attraction, allows sea-lovers to practice sailing activities almost all year round. SHA is nestled in a hillside, surrounded by a wood and with amazing views to the sea, at about 1 km away from Albir’s beach in Altea’s Bay. There are 5 marinas within 15km of SHA: Calpe, Campomanes, Altea and Villajoyosa. Just 10 minutes away is Altea’s Marina with 366 moorings. In the Valencia region there are more than 30 Marinas and harbors, 9.000 moorings and 3 sailing havens, offering a wide range of services and installations, which make this area one of the most complete places for sailing and diving, being the most attractive and demanded sports of the Spanish Mediterranean.

The Natural Reserve of Sierra Helada and its littoral is one of the most singular in the Valencia region, being the first water-land reserve in this region. It counts with a total reserved surface of 5.564 hc ( from which 4.920 hc belong to the water environment). Inside its waters one can find some of the more interesting and amazing diving areas of the Spanish Mediterranean, emphasizing the protected sea-weed variety known as Alguers (Oceanic Posidonia) and rocky hollows, such as “La Llosa” with an exceptional biological variety.
