The Pilates method was developed by Joseph Pilates in his attempt to find the perfect combination of techniques such as gymnastics or yoga to obtain mens sana in corpore sano (a sound mind in a healthy body).
It is thought to be one of the most complete forms of exercise. The Pilates method consists in exercises made up of controlled, very conscious, postural muscle movements made in harmony with breathing, for a body that is well-balanced, muscular, toned and supple; it’s also an exercise that favours spinal stability.
At Sha Wellness Clinic our Pilates teachers strive to make our guests realise, both in the group classes available at the Sha Life Learning Centre and in the private personalised sessions, that how each part of the exercise is done is more important that how many times it is actually repeated.
