But… What are telomeres? Telomeres are the ends of our chromosomes and its length indicates our biological age, that is, how much we really aged. Telomeres play a key role in protecting the integrity of chromosomes and they are biomarkers of the aging degree of the organism and life expectancy. Thus, its measurement using the telomere length test -developed precisely by Dr. Maria Blasco and her team- determines our real degree of aging and lets us know our biological degeneration (cardiovascular diseases, obesity, cognitive impairment…) and make changes in our lifestyle to improve or predict and prevent the premature development of certain age-related diseases and try to minimize this risk. In her own words: “We know that people with shorter telomeres are at greater risk for certain diseases.”

Dr. Maria Blasco will explain this in detail in a talk entitled Telomeres as key to health and longevity. If you would like to learn more about telomeres you can read this interesting article in Spa Business.

In addition, the conference will also participate in Dr. Gloria Sabater, one of the most important doctors in pharmacy known for her specialty in Genetics and Preventive Medicine, who will talk about Why we age and what we can do to slow down the process and prevent it; and Dr. Vicente Mera, Head of our Healthy Aging Unit, who will talk about the relationship between Genetics and Antiaging 2.0.

The seminar will start at 6pm on Friday 22nd March and will be held in the Michio Kushi room at SHA. At the end, SHAMADI restaurant will offer a cocktail to the attendants. If you are interested in attending, please send an email to [email protected]. Here’s the complete program:
